The Rotary Club of Milimani signed a Memorandum of Understanding in October 2021 with Bridge of Hope (BOH) to fund  needy students transitioning from Primary to Secondary School until completion of the same. RCM and Bridge of Hope offer the students from very needy communities an opportunity to continue their studies with focus and determination in order to promote social change through education and improve their lives and those of their families and communities.
The charity, Bridge of Hope Foundation (www.bridge-hope.org) that funds the education of marginalized children in developing countries, currently four through the Rotary Club of Milimani, was the brain child of Lisa Yacoub. She founded it with Robert Newell who was one of those responsible for opening Kenya Utalii College in 1975. Lisa is the daughter of the eminent heart surgeon, Prof Sir Magdi Yacoub OM, whose heart charity Chain of Hope was the inspiration for Bridge of Hope (BOH). Its primary purpose is to advance education for the public benefit of young people in developing countries as the trustees determine.

The principal objective of BOH is to enable children to complete their secondary school education and for outstanding students to have the means to go to college or university. Priority is given to the students whom BOH have sponsored through secondary school. Its commitment remains to support its current students through to graduation.  As well as sponsoring individual students, Bridge of Hope also makes financial grants to schools with a particular focus on enabling marginalized children or those with a disability to receive an education who otherwise would be denied one.

At the present time they are funding the education of children in Kenya, Uganda, Zimbabwe, Ethiopia, Egypt, Haiti and India.

Trustees of BOH are Robert Newell CVO chairman, Lisa Yacoub founder/administrator and Martin Fletcher the renowned journalist. Advisors to the board of trustee are Claire Finlay, Katie Campbell and Mohammed Ayub Khalid. They are all appreciative of the association with the Rotary Club of Milimani  and grateful to Maria Redmond for making the introduction.
